Description

During his three years as a student, Chuck Hunt participated in anti-war protests with Students for a Democratic Society and was beaten by police for his participation in the Dow riot. Hunt marks his experience in the fall of 1967 as a turning point in his life that changed his perspective of government and authority in the United States. As a conscientious objector, Hunt received an alternative service position on peace research and publishing in Boston. Returning to Madison for a few years, Hunt continued work with SDS in Wisconsin. Back on campus, Chuck expressed a need for reparations from the university for their responses to students in the 1960s.
